While in the NICU, nurses constantly face the challenge of preventing accidental extubations, the removal or endotracheal tubes. This occurs do to issues with the equipment being properly secured to the patient, or the baby removing it themselves with uncontrolled movements. The task was to redesign NICU devices, the endotracheal tubes, beds, and how a new mother can come safely come in contact with her baby.
